Can a dishnetwork system be installes in mexico if it can how do you point the dish to recieve the signal?

Probably not. The "footprint" of the EchoStar satellites are pretty much confined to the US. If you were near the border, maybe, but central and south Mexico I would seriously doubt. The legality of such a setup is also a bit questionable.

http://www.geo-orbit.org/westhemipgs/fec鈥?/a>|||I think it can be done provided you know where the satellite is.

Whether it's legal or not, i dont know.

It all comes down to actually knowing where the satellite is orbiting (geostationary orbit, so it always stays at the same point in the sky) which would be nearly impossible, unless you had a technician come in, or you had a good telescope, and the patience to scan the night sky for 4 hours, looking for the teeny-tiny, stationary, badly-lit satellite.

Its like Where's Waldo goes to Space.

If there's dishnetwork where you live, then theyre the only ones that can help you.

My cat was telling me that Dishnetwork gets cloudy during rainstorms, is cable better?

maybe you should go have your cat fix your dam dish..if he can talk he can probably do other things that would amaze you..like riding a bike..I mean climbing up a roof!!!|||I don't think you have much to worry about if You have a talking cat, you should have other things on your mind.|||I wonder if that is because there is no sunny spot to sleep in when it is raining. Maybe you should get a heat lamp for the cat and keep Dish Network.|||That's the same thing my goldfish said. Well, he said we completely lose reception during a storm. I had cable for years and had no trouble. So he told me to get cable or he'll protest belly up.|||Ur cat is correct. Therefore cable is better|||Smart Kitty, its right|||Generally so. Cable does not require a dish on the roof which improves your chances, but it's still a possibility this will happen with cable also.|||Well your cat is right too many clouds can block the satellite signal.|||Actually, we used to have Dish Network, but we switched to DirecTV and it is SO much better. The Dish Network used to go out all the time -- and DirecTV doesn't.

Is ther a way to record from a DishNetwork DVR to a Laptop or DVD recorder?

Usually yes. Just connect the output from the DVR to your DVD recorder instead of directly to your TV, then play back the recorded program.

With laptops (or desktops), you need a TV capture card (like a Hauppage WinTV or ATI TV wonder) unlesss you're lucky enough to have a computer that came with a video capture card already installed.

I have a dishnetwork as a satellite provider. Now i wanna get an International channel.?

To add insult to injury, they said i have to moved so i can get the signal. What do u guys think about this? need your help..I e mailed them twice but no replies yet...its frustrating!|||It would depend on to which satellite you need to point. And I have a hd of 40 gb inside my pc. Can I change the hd of 120gb form the dish to my pc and vice-versa? after the change , will work well the two devices again?|||Not a good idea, the hard disk in your computer and the one in the DVR are physicaly the same but the one in the DVR is formatted diffrently so if you tried to put it in your computer you wouldent be able to use it without re-installing windows after formatting it and if you stuck the one from your computer into your DVR it wouldent know what to do with it due to the fact that it has diffrent applications on it that it hasnt seen befor. What does everyone like better Directv, Dishnetwork, or ATT Uverse?

We currently have Directv, but may switch. wondering if anyone has switched and if so do they like what they switched to?|||I am not really familiar with AT%26amp;T Uverse but I did have Dish Network for ten years before switching to Directv. Have dishnetwork w/ std reciever #322 if i buy on ebay hd reciever will it work?

you can buy a receiver from any source and add it to your account however be very wary of what you buy a lot of receivers being sold for less than value are stolen or if there used they may have balance owed on the receiver and dish will not activate either on all newer model receivers there is no longer smart or access cards so you don't have the option to get a new one if you don't mind a commitment usually for around 150 you can upgrade your receiver and dish will give you credits back to repay you this way it will include a installation witch if your using a dish 500 system(standard for 322 receiver) you will need a 1000 dish installed to receive all hd channels this upgrade would cover all this|||Should work, however, you still need to call Dish to enable it. Call also Dish and ask for a free upgrade.|||not unless you order a new access card for the receiver and the big dish

Is there any way to connect a Tivo HD to my Dishnetwork HD reciever?

First, if you do not already have the Tivo HD do not get it. Get a Dishnetwork HD DVR instead. It is much easier to install. And it allows you to record more than the channel you are watching that is more than one channel at a time.

Second, if you have not opened the Tivo HD do not open its box and think about returning it for the reason in # 1 above and also for the fact that it will cost you less to get the box from Dish because you won't be paying for the box if you sign a contract and the rent in total might be less than the two separate monthly bills, Dish and Tivo.

Finally if you do want to connect the HD Tivo look at what connections you have available as inputs on it and outputs on the Dish HD box.

You should have component outputs (red, green and blue) on the Dish HD receiver as well as audio outputs (white and red). Match these up to the component and audio inputs on the HD Tivo. Set the HD Tivo to record from these inputs as you would if using it with a cable box. You can only record what you tune on the Dish HD receiver that is you cannot watch one channel and record another unless your Dish HD receiver has separate outputs for its dual tuners assuming it has dual tuners in the first place.|||There is not. Tivo HD (and Series 3) do not have any inputs which would allow you to connect your Dish receiver. Their only inputs are over the air coax, cable coax, and digital CableCard.

Can I use a Dishnetwork Dish for a DirecTV receiver?

I am subscribed to DirecTV.|||I'm sorry but you won't be able to do so. The signals coming from a DirecTV satellite can only be decoded by another DirecTV equipment and there's no way that it can be read by a Dish Network dish. Same goes the other way around.|||No, it's not possible. The dishes are programmed to pull specific information from the satellites, and even though the companies share two of them you wouldn't even be able to get that information.|||If you are pulling only the primary signals, then yes you can. I used to work for DirecTV in there customer call center and have talked to multiple customers who were able to do it. The important part is the receiver. Just don't try to go for HD.

I need to install a dish 1000-4 from dishnetwork is it easy for some to install?

is it easy to install your self or should i have someone install it ohh i have dishnetwork prepaid service|||I recommend having it installed by dish network. You will need a special meter to fine tune all three satellites. You can try it yourself, but

most likely you will be paying for a service call. Unlike a dish 500, the 1000 has to be aimed at more than two satellites, unless you have the right equipment you will never get a good signal on all you channels.

How do you burn shows from your Dishnetwork dvr to a dvd?

Dishnetwork Receiver VIP211, without DVR option, can I still hook up a external hard drive.?

Was the dishnetwork representative correct or does my friend know something the representative doesn't?|||Hi The,

Can you program a directv remote control to a dishnetwork receiver?

manufactured by echostar|||no

Do I need a tuner with my hdtv inorder to view dishnetwork channels?

When you get Dish Network, the Dish Network box contains the necessary tuner.

The "box" will then just have either HDMI or component outputs to your TV which is strictly used as a display device, when hooked up this way.

So an HD set which does not have a tuner will work just fine in this application. You just will not be able to hook a set of rabbit ears to this TV.|||Dish network requires a reciever and antenna for reception.

you can connect the componant/HDMI to the tv and should work fine.

If I buy an extra HD receiver for my DishNetwork at a retail store do I have to pay to get it activated?

yes you do. it will cost you prob between $49-$199 depending on the type of receiver and its funcionality. if you call dish network and just lease one,(if youre not under contract they charge $99 truck roll fee, $25 if youre in an 18 mo agreement) if its a reg single tuner hd receiver they charge $99 lease upgrade fee, if its an hd dual tuner dvr, $199. also keep in mind if you buy an hd dual tuner dvr, it only has the capability to carry hd quality on 1 tv, and the other will be standard. they can both record, pause, etc tho.|||I would think so, yes. Have you considered contacting Dish Network to see what they might charge you for the receiver? They might be willing to give you a better deal on both the receiver and activation than going through a retail store. it is worth the time it takes to ask. The worst that they can say is no and you might end up saving money. :-)

What is the problem with Dishnetwork when it states acquiring signal on and off all day?

The correct answer to your question is: you have a weak signal strength.

Several things can cause a low signal (the guy a few answers above me touched on a few).

Most common reasons are:

improper dish alignment

poor connections from the dish to the receiver

something is blocking the signal (trees or heavy cloud cover)|||1) It can be a static build up. Unplug the receiver(s) for 3 minutes. Take out the card. After 3 minutes. Reinsert the card. Plug it back in.

2) If that doesn't work, the connections between the dish and the receiver may be loose so that it is losing signal. Try to tighten those up.

3) Your dish may be off target and may need to be realigned.

I've had all three problems. Good luck.|||I don't know if you have tried it but shut it off at the box and turn it back on. If that doesn't work then you are going to have to call them.|||Your settings for the angle and stuff for the dish is wrong

you can get he pproper ones at dishnetwork.com just search around for it|||the problem is that with dish, every time there's a storm or it just clouds over you lose the signal. i don't like dish. i don't know if direct tv is any better, but it doesn't happen with cable.|||don't listen to the person 'bout direct tv. my aunt had %26amp; in sunny it would go out for 6-12hrs at a time %26amp; at least once a week.my other aunt had cable and it would black out for about 2-4 hrs and everyday you would hear truckers on their radios even though were she lives she is lets just say far enough from big streets.

you should call or log unto dish probaly some wind from a storm or strong winds wacked it out.

had dish only time it went out was went it was raining really, really bad and the satellite ended hanging from the cables from the side of my house.

Is there any other satellite tv provider other than directv or dishnetwork?

Is there any way to transfer the videos from DishNetwork DVR to Computer...?

I want to know that DishNetwork provides DVR for the TVs like model no. 625 %26amp; vip722 where we can record the live shows or movies... But is there any way to transfer the recorded video to the computer????|||Most DVRs have S or composdite outputs which can be connected to a PC TV tuner card for recording onto the hard drive. This will be in SD. THere is no way to directly transfer the digital data.

Can i have dishnetwork service with any indoor antenna?

my apartment people wont let me have any dish antenna outside my apartment so i was wondering if there is any indoor antenna which i can keep near my window to enjoy dish network service here in connecticut.|||I guess technically you could try putting one inside next to a window, but you have to remember that it has to be a SE direction and that the dish is going to have to point into the sky. Can you have one on a balcony? They can put them on a tripod.

How do i program a new universal remote for my dishnetwork DVR? ?

This tv is in my bedroom and is the number 2 tv the main reciever is in the basement. The remote will work the tv just not sure how to make it work the dish. Please help.|||Unless it's a uhf remote it will not work. It will have to pass through the walls and the floor to get to the receiver. If it is uhf call Dish and get the codes for your receiver. It would be easier to call Dish and get the right uhf remote which you can set up for your TV.

My husband and I have a DishNetwork satellite connection?

Question Details: We only get the basics, no Showtime, Court TV, HBO, etc. because he says he doesn't like movies. I noticed several months after we got the service a warning type message would appear on the tv screen saying that the phone line needed to be connected or we'd get charged. I asked him how that happened, and he gave me his usual vague techno babble about why the phone line was unconnected to begin with. Well, I'm discovering that he watches adult pay-per-view, but I didn't say too much about it. Our computer and TV seem to have an awful lot of cables and wires, way more than other homes I've seen. Anyone have an idea what the heck is going on? There is a tv tuner in the main computer (we network with our daughter's computer), but my husband swears there isn't. I found receipts for video hardware including nvidia stuff, something called a "remote wonder", and there seems to be a tremendous amount of hardware, applications, programs, software, wires, and cables hooked up|||You're quite the detective. If you don't have your phone line hooked up you can get charged 5 dollars or so a month. He may want it unplugged so it wont show purchase history. You don't have to have it plugged in to get ppv, you can call it in or go online and order it. The remote wonder is a remote control that allows you to operate your computer from another room. Sounds like he's got it all hooked up so he can watch video from his computer on the tv. Just guessing, good luck.|||First, with DISH, even if you aren't getting pay per view, you get charged an extra amount each month if you are not connected to a phone line. We had problems with ours causing Internet issues at one point and unplugged and have been getting charged for it. \

There are possibly a lot of cables depending on your system. The Dish system has it's own power source, unlike DirecTV (at least when we had it) so that may be part of it. Also, you can have multiple TVs hooked up, and sometimes you can hook up a DVR and the like.

You should either find the manual for the unit, or go online, and they will have schematics for your unit, to help you determine what is hooked up -- if it is that important to you.

The Dish bill is pretty detailed -- so if you look at the bill next month, and don't understand any of the charges, contact their customer support and ask questions about the bill.|||I am not sure what your ? is but I am assuming that he is unplugging the phone line while purchasing adult movies in hopes that either you won't find out or he wont be charged! As soon as you plug the line back in you get charged and the satelite Co doesnt like it when that happens!

I may have answered with a whole different answer than you were looking for sorry if I did!!|||Sounds like you have several questions, some of which are beyond my speculation. Whatever you've found in receipts and your computer is something you'll need to deal with your husband.

Pay-per-view on DISH is only available with a telephone line hookup to your receiver. I don't know why, and I think it's a scam, that DISH will charge an extra $5 a month for subscriber update information when the phone line is not hooked up. To me, that's charging me for what I don't want or use.

If there are pay-per-view charges on your DISH bill, then a phone line is hooked up to receive them. If your receiver warns you that you're subject to an extra fee because it detects no phone line, then no phone line is hooked up.

The only way it can be both ways is if the phone line is hooked up to get pay-per-view, and then unhooked afterward, which is kind of expensive I'd think. Why pay a fee for non-use of an option that is getting used?

As for the extra cables and hardware, I don't understand the question unless you're a technophobe. If you have doubts about your husband's expenditures, then that is not a technical question, but a relational one.

How clear of trees does dishnetwork satellite have to be in order to receive perfect hd picture?

i'm writing from missouri and have to go with satellite to receive hd programming....i'm getting hd tv in the fall and already know satellite has to be pointed southwest....i have a decent clearing of trees towards that direction.....any knowledgable input is appreciated...thanks|||Most of dishnetwork's HD comes from the 110 satellite. VERY roughly from MO, it is 36 degrees above the horizon. for a VERY rough estimate, look to the south (around 220 degrees if you have a compass) and hold out your fist level to the horizon. the top of your fist is about 10 degrees. if the trees clear about 30 degrees above the horizon, youre good.

HD is sent digitally. Therefore, you either get the signal or dont. there is no variation in between. if you get the signal, then it will be 'perfect'.|||The idiot that installed mine pointed it right over the top of a palm tree instead of going to a little more trouble and putting it on the roof, or the other side of the porch. As the tree grew, our reception went downhill. Even though the trunk of the tree does not interfere, just the palm branches waving in the wind do. To everyone out there - you need to stay on top of these people when they are installing your dish. They don't care how your place looks, or if a tree is growing where it'll be in the way next year, etc.

Will a standard DirecTv LNB work with DishNetwork or Bell Express VU?

Yes. All things related to a small satellite dish are non-proprietary. The only thing that's different is the HD hookup.

Has any one tried dishnetwork work at home?

I am looking for people who do this to see how true it is .....|||I have DirecTV. Love it. Lots of MLB in the 600's.

I started out with PrimeStar in 1994 and then DirecTV bought out PrimeStar in the late 1990's. PrimeStar's only problem was when it rained, we lost reception. Now with DirecTV, it has to come a monsoon to cut off our reception.|||Yup. It sucked.

722k dishnetwork, how to plug it to the internet, if i have wireless internet?

the dishnetwork guy it's coming tomorrow sunday, but i only have verizon wireless internet, and the reciver of dishnetwork it's not wireless, what should i do to conected to the internet,

and how good is this reciver [ 722K ]

THANKS|||Dish offers a power-line BB connector. Plug one part into your router and electric outlet, plug the other part into your receiver and send ethernet signal over your power lines.

The 722 is an excellent receiver, you can add a sling player or google tv and it is far more robust than the 922 with built in sling player.

What has a better signal Dishnetwork or directv?

I have dish network and it great but directv has more channels does directv have a good signal in chicago land|||They both use the same frequency range, they both use satellites in geosynchronous orbit, they both us 18 inch dishes.

Their signals should be the same.|||I dont know about dish network but Directtv is terrible. There are expensive and they don't tell you that you have to keep it for like 2 years. I tried to cancel mine and they said i cant cancel until 2010!!!

I'm getting rid of my Directv service, should I go with DishNetwork or try cable (charter)?

Also what kind of HD channels do Dish and Charter have? I have a HD TV.|||Pick six of one, a half dozen of the other. Or flip a coin. There are pros and cons to all of them. And they'll all offer you a cheap discounted price to get hooked up, and then gradually raise the rates on you

All are mandated by the government to continue providing analong TV service without extra charge through 2012, so they're charging extra for HD access. Presumably, when the mandate expires, the HD access will be no extra charge while the analog service will cost extra.

The technology of satellite TV does inherently favor digital transmissions so less adaptation is necessary for HDTV broadcasts. Additionally, a lot of the cable TV cabling is old and in need of upgrade, which is expensive and time-consuming for the company.

Yet, the other day when we had torrential storms and tornado warnings, I turned on the TV for local information and found that I had no reception due to the excess rain pooling in the dish. Although we don't get snow here, I'm told that you have to climb up and clean it out when you get it.

Yet, around here, you have to pay as much for cable as it costs for satellite, but the cable technology is 30 years old and decaying. Like I said, flip a coin and pick the lesser of the evils.|||Check the packages for Dish and cable.

See if you can get a guranteed long term price freeze.

For me, it was all about the $.|||I HAVE HAD DISH FOR 8 YRS NOW AND ONLY ONCE HAVE THEY RAISED THEIR PRICES ON ME AND IT WAS THIS YEAR THE PRICE INCREASE WAS 3 DOLLARS . ITS NOT BAD THE SERVICE IS GOOD. THEY ALSO PROVIDE THE DUAL TUNERS WHICH MEANS TWO RECIEVERS IN ONE SO THEY DONT CHARGE YOU PER BOX LIKE DIRECT DOES. THEY DONT HAVE MANY HD CHANNELS RIGHT NOW ITS TRUE BUT THEY ARE GETTING THERE. WELL IT DEPENDS IF YOU WANT HD OR NOT. PLUS DISH IS CHEAPER THAN OTHERS AND TRUE 100 PERCENT DIGITAL PICTURE UNLIKE CABLE. BUT THE DECISION IS REALLY UP TO YOU AND YOUR BUDGET THAT VERY IMPORTANT. ANY OTHER QUESTIONS U CAN EMAIL ME .

As a new customer what is the best cable to install optimum, directv or dishnetwork?

I have dishnetwork and haven't had any trouble. From what I have read in Y!A, directv is not good at customer satisfaction. Just do a search for directv in Y!A and see what the questions and complaints are.|||I have Cox cable in my area but I've been told Direct TV especially if you can bundle with phone and internet|||They all suck. I just want a good ala carte service. Let me pick the channels I want and give me a fair price.|||The best picture comes from fiber optics (if you can get it). Verizon is laying fiber optics in about 30 or so markets. They deliver 100% of an uncompressed complete digital picture %26amp; sound straight to your home. Neither cable TV or satellite TV can do this.. Check their website and enter your address to see if it's available in your neighborhood.

Moving a DishNetwork DVR from one spot to another?

We want to move our TV from the office to the living room, and when we moved the DVR and hooked it all up, it just did a "Looking for satellite signal" screen for like 20 minutes.

Is the DVR supposed to stay in the same place the whole time? Do I have to call DishNetwork to have them move it for me?|||It sounds like you don't realize that just any cable connection on any random wall plate that you screw your DISH receiver to, is very unlikely to be connected to the satellite dish on your roof. That's why you don't have any satellite reception. When you have DISH installed, they don't wire up your whole house to the satellite dish antenna... they wire up only the locations where the DISH receivers are installed.

What you need to do is find the other end of the cable that is connected to the wall-plate that you connected your DISH receiver to, and connect that cable to the satellite dish instead of the one that goes to the room where you are moving the receiver from.|||At the risk of asking a really dumb question, did you relocate your DVR's input cable from the office to the living room? Is is connected to the DVR input exactly like it was before? Alternately, do you have multiple input cables from your LNB, and do you know that the one in your living room is good?

Your answer is in there somewhere. The DVR should work anywhere in the house as long as it has good input.

Followup to your Additional Details: then I would be suspicious of the jack in the living room. Maybe it's not even connected to your LNB--did it ever work on satellite? Maybe it's an old cable TV line. In any case, it would seem that that's your culprit, if everything else is the same.

I'd want to trace the cable (on the other side of your living room jack) back to its source to see how it's connected, and to what.|||once you reconnect the dish cable to the dvr, make sure to run a switch test, if you have mutlible recievers that is. you have to run this test from the setup screen in order for the recieve to be able to change the channels, otherwise it will not be able to "find" satellites.

I currently have cable but was thinking about getting dishnetwork. Is dish network any good?

Ive heard dish network has bad reception when the wind blows or you have bad weather.|||A properly installed dish will only have outages in the heaviest rain, and when snow builds up on the dish. Wind will minimally affect a properly installed dish.|||get dish more channels and load faster

What brands of external hard drive work with a dishnetwork DVR. The Dish website give only guidelines.?

Dish doen't sell them you have to buy your own so its sounds like CYA. I'd like to watch one channel and record the other on my dvr with dishnetwork?

When we first got dish network set up, we could watch one show and record another, or we could record two different shows. We just got an update card and updated it. Now, we can only watch the channel we are recording on. Does anyone have any info on why this is, or how to put it back the way it was?|||you forgot to mention the model number of your receiver...The model numbers that can watch a live show while recording another are 722, 622,625, 612 and 525. The ones that don't have this feature are 510, 508 and 501. If you have any of the first four, the reason for the problem could be one of many possibilities ranging from a simple bad connection at the dish to a faulty receiver|||The update card has no effect on functionality. As long as you have two tuners you shoul dbe able to do it. You may want to make sure it is in a single TV mode - so one TV can use both tuners.

What happens if you don't replace your DishNetwork Smartcard?

Will your TV not work? Or will the channel guides just not be updated?

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

|||When Dish Network changes the authorization codes, if your receiver has not been updated, you will lose service (it will stop working). It's like periodically changing the locks on a building for security reasons.|||Dish Network is currently undergoing its 2nd SmartCard Replacement Program. They do this to prevent pirating of the signal and to update various other features.

If the G3 SmartCard is not inserted prior to or after the on-screen Attention message, you will lose programming. Just follow the instructions included with the new card and call 1-800-333-3474 (Dish's phone number) if there are any problems.

Which satellite company is better Directv or Dishnetwork. Anyone with personal experience?

I have already looked up both companies on their respective web-sites, but I would like to know if anyone has any personal experience with them.. Thanks..|||Honestly they are both great but I have had numerous bad experiences with DishNetwork. I first ordered satelite with Dish in 2000. I got a top of the line DVR ($600 then) and a $400 dollar second room reciever. I paid $1500 for the entire system because in 2000 satelite was a big thing. Anyway over the years my bill got higher and I was getting less and less channels. Then one day in 2005 I called to order TWO of their flagship HD DVR recievers using their "Dish'n it up" promotion which is where you upgrade your reciever for a LITTLE OR NO FEE. Then when my billing statement came I was stuck with a 200 dollar bill. Finally after hours on the phone I just went ahead and paid the bill. Oh yeah and their customer service SUCKS. Ocassionaly I got a kind and understanding person but other then that I always dealt with rude people that were trying to get me off of the phone. Then in 2006 I noticed I was paying $80 for 10 HD channels and 60 others plus I had TO PAY FOR LOCALS. That day I called to cancel and guess what the lady I was talking to put me on hold for 2 hours. I hung up dialed again and Immediatley canceled (that time around I was talking to a nice agent). That agent was nice and asked me why I am switching and was very understanding. They then said if I were ever to come back I would get 3 months free plus what ever new customer promotions they would have available. With DirecTV on the other hand it is VERY VERY NICE. I called their toll free number and told the representitive what features I wanted he immideatly scheduled a FREE installation and i only had to pay $99 for an HD reciever. I am currently paying $49.99 for 150 channels Including locals and I also get 15 HD channels. I also got three months of free HBO .The install was great and they came within 5 days of my order. I would definitley reccommend Directv. You will not regret it.|||DirecTv. My parents got Dish first: the guy came to install and did it wrong (we only had the local channels). On a Friday, the thing went out entirely and we were told that a tech would have to come out to repair, we were then transferred to someone else who said they could fix it remotely. They couldn't, and it was the end of the day. We left a message with the local company that installed it, and they called and said they would be out to fix it on Tuesday (they can install in 24 hours, but fixing takes 3 business days). We called DirecTv, they were out to install it on Monday morning first thing, and they've had no problems since. DishNetwork could not have cared less why we cancelled. There was no apology or anything.|||Directv. Excellent customer service. Great picture quality and sound. Great channel line up. On some, you get both the east coast and west coast feeds. Wish they had more Encore channels. Not a big fan of dj hosted-XM music channels--I just want the music. Also, Rupert Murdoch owns them, which makes me squirm with resentment and loathing, Overall, very happy with Directv.

Why do I keep losing sound through my Dishnetwork HD receiver?

It's a model VIP211 receiver. While watching an HD channel, I noticed the volume would go out all of the sudden, then I'd just change the channel and it would be fine. Now when the sound goes out, the only way to bring back the sound is to actually completely reset the receiver which is a major inconvenience having to wait to acquire and download a whole new signal. Whats going on? I'm putting off calling customer service only because I'm gonna be put on hold for a half an hour until Habib or someone like that tells me what to do, which I'm never in the mood to deal with.

Also, I have no signal on my local Fox and NBC HD channels. Never did. Anyone know what that is?|||There is a discussion about this at dbstalk.com . Audio dropouts are a known problem with the 211 and Habib at Dish will give you a new receiver.

How do you move a DishNetwork satelite dish to a new location (from my yard to side of garage?)?

To be honest it is best to leave it up to a pro. Call dish and ask for it to be moved. If the install just happened they will have to move it for free. Why did they put the dish in the yard? There could be a very good reason it was not put on your garage. If there is a tree in the way it would not work on the garage. I ran into this all the time as an installer. People want the dish hidden or where nobody can see it. I do not blame them but most of the time by hiding the dish it would not work where people wanted it to go. Most of the time there were trees in the way but not in the yard that is getting the service. Neighbors trees or something next to the house would make the location bad. I put them in the best spot for the signal. Then I would ask the home owner if that was OK. If they had a problem with the dish in the location we would find a spot that would work. If they said no, not in the yard and I could not get signal on the house then I would leave and tell them there is a location problem.

Your best move is to call dish and tell them there is a problem with the location right now. They should send a tech out to look at it. They will tell you if it can work on the garage. Some garages and even houses I would not put the dish. If the wood was rotten or had many layers of shingles on it then I would not mount anything to it. The dish would end up moving and would stop working. Call them and they should be able to fix it, be sure you are present when they are there. This way you can talk to the tech. I have put the dish where the wife said it was good then the husband would get home and flip and I would have to go back and move the dish because he did not want it there. That is never good. I hope this helps.

What package out of which company should i get- Comcast, Dishnetwork, DirectTV?

I am fed up paying $70 for 90 channels with comcast. Basically, all I want is HD, Phillies games, NFL and MLB network, and On demand for under $55 a month. Can anyone help me? I live in Salem county, NJ if that helps.|||There's a reason a custom-built anything usually will cost more than one off the mass production assembly line.

The companies you mention claim it would cost each customer MORE to get only the services they want (A la carte).

A la carte cable television (from the French 脿 la carte, "from the menu") is an idea for cable companies to allow subscribers to select to which channels they would like to have access. This is in opposition to the large package deals currently prevalent in American cable deals, which often result in consumers paying for additional channels irrelevant to their interests.

While a la carte cable is not a major function of U.S. cable deals, the idea of it has been a major subject of debate. In a 2006 USA Today article, Kevin Martin, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, states his position that he is in support of users choosing their channels. However, leading companies such as Disney, and cable providers such as Time Warner prohibit operators to sell channels which stand alone.[1]

Martin presented a report to Congress showing a potential increase in consumer savings by 13%, and with cable prices rising from 2% to 6% a year, the issue has risen in profile, and will continue to be considered.[2]

The downside of a la carte cable television is directly related to cable companies, who worry that viewers could watch less television, and that advertising revenues could decline as certain channels fell in popularity. A mandated a la carte cable deal could inspire cable companies to increase overall prices.|||With DIRECTV both the MLB and NFL networks are available in the basic package, CHOICE, but the RSN regional sports networks looks liek it might be YES and MSG which do not have the Phillies only Yanks and Mets. If you are in a Zip code where you get the Philadelphia RSNs you would be able to get everything you need int the CHOICE package with HD for $44.99 for one year but it would go to 65.99 after that. That is for 1 room add $5 for each additional room.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236049

thats my monitor, will that work with direct tv or dishnetwork?|||Hi Frieza C. I can't talk about DISH Network but for Directv, yes it will work but only if you get a HD receiver since this receiver has one HDMI output. The DirecTV installer will set up the receiver to get the best picture possible out of your screen (at least will try) but you can also play around with the TV and HD options in the receiver to get the best picture.

When you call DirecTV for setting up your contract and schedule the installation, make sure they write down you want an HD receiver.

I hope this information helps.

Why is my dishnetwork bill payer popping up already?

i just paid my bill 10/13/11 and now its poppin up i need to pay my bill. i just paid 144.43 which im guessing is for two months of service whts the deal?|||Hello,

If you have paid your bill, and are still getting the pop-ups on the TV, when the message shows up, make sure that you select "OK" at the bottom of the message (you have to acknowledge the message 3 times in a row). Once the "OK" button has been selected 3 times in a row, the message should stop appearing. Also note that if you made a payment today, it may not post on your account for a day or two (depending how you made the payment).

If you still can not get it to stop appearing, please feel free to email me directly.

Thank you!

Does anyone work for DirecTV or DishNetwork, or know about dish service well?

I'm moving into an apartment 20 miles from home, and my parents have DirecTV. My dad said to take my box with me to my apartment and I can still get their dish service there (free to me since my parents pay the bill). Is that possible? Can I be 20 miles away, use my parents service on my box in my apartment? And if this doesn't/won't work, can someone explain why? It seems like it would!|||As long as the dish itself is aimed at the correct spot in the sky, you should have no problems with the relocation. For a change in location of only 20 miles the compass heading (azimuth) and angle of elevation won't change measurably. If you were to relocate several hundred miles away, the Az-El settings will be different, and you might not be able to receive some of the local channels, but the national feeds would all be there.

Don|||Are you connecting the box to a DirecTV satellite dish at your new place? If not, then it surely won't work. I have a fta lnb from a friend, and i'm wondering if i can hook it up on a dish network or directv dish. I have heard that fta requires 30", but have seen otherwise. I have tried looking on satellite message boards, but franky their language is too technical. Please help! Can I simply change the lnb %26amp; have it work? 10 pts for thorough, clear answer. Thanks!|||Yes directv dishes DOES work for FTA. I don't know where you live but where I do people that use them have to paint the dish in order to erase de Directv logo.

I see you like the FTA matter, did you know that acording to UN all the private comercial Satellites should use 20% of the channels to FTA. well most of them just don't obey that.

Should I switch from dishnetwork to a roku with Hulu and netflix?

I don't know much about streaming t.v. or any of this stuff. I just know Im tired of pay dish-networks high prices. Please help. :)|||I have one of the older Roku boxes and like it a lot. I don't have any cable TV service and use the Roku to watch Netflix and also buy some movies from Amazon VOD service. Netflix has a lot of TV show offerings such as The Office and Lost but you can also subscribe to the Hulu monthy service for even more shows.

Really the only downside I have noticed from not having TV cable service are sporting events like the NFL. There are channels though on the Roku for MLB and the UFC. They do cost extra.

A lot of the movies are also able to be streamed in HD so the quality from the Roku is quite good unless you have a slow Internet connection. High speed Internet such as from Comcast will work great. What happens when I connect my dishnetwork receiver with just analog audio to my surround sound system?

If i connect the dish network receiver with just analog sound connections will this system improve it to surround sound at all or anything close to it?

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5693288|||Depending on the signal encoded in the shows you're watching, you might be able to get quadraphonic sound. Dolby Pro Logic allows 4 channels of audio to be encoded in a stereo signal while still maintaining compatibility with normal 2-channel stereo devices.

Your wording is a little bit ambiguous, but I think you're saying that the dish network receiver doesn't even have digital audio outputs. Is that correct? If so, then your best hope is for your shows to broadcast Dolby Pro Logic audio.

Otherwise, a lot of channels might not even broadcast in 5.1 surround, but for $10 or less you should be able to buy an RCA-style coax cable or TOSLink fiber-optic cable that will hook up to your surround system's receiver. And don't let the salespeople talk you into wasting extra money on the gold-plated or Monster cables for your digital surround sound--digital signals by definition won't be improved by more expensive home theater cables.|||If you connect your Dish receiver to your surround sound using the analog audio cables (red/white RCA cables) you'll get stereo sound from your surround sound system.

Granted, the surround sound system's speakers will give you better sound than your TV's speakers, but it'll only be stereo.

On the other hand, if you have an HD receiver, and use an optical audio cable, you'll get full 5.1 surround sound...for those programs that support it, which many HD programs do.|||No, those connectors are ONLY STEREO sound...they were never capable of delivering 5.1 Surround.....

You need to use the Dish Network's OPTICAL OUTPUT or the ORANGE Digital Audio output ....

And connect it to your amplifier's OPTICAL INPUT or ORANGE Digital Coax input......

You have either one on BOTH UNITS , and you get Dolby Surround signal into your amplifier where the DOLBY DECODER can translate that signal into 5 channels + subwoofer signals....

As for your unit, the DVD's will be in surround, but the TV set will be in stereo, since you only have the Red and White inputs for Left and Right channels.....

Do my dvr recordings work after i cancel my dishnetwork service?

they best work. i payed for the damn thing|||Donno if Dish Network has the same caveat as DirecTV, but DirecTV OWNS the box/DVR, even if you purchased it! Not sure how that works -- you'd probably save the monthly rental, at least. So they may expect your DVR back, if that's the case.

If not, no problem, they'll still playback.|||nope, cant do it, actually even though you may have bought the receiver, the actual files/ programs are owned by dish network. even though signal may be lost during bad weather, the receiver would still be authorized allowing play back of recorded content. once service is canceled, the authorization of dish net's proprietary o.s. and stored files are no longer available|||They should be on a hard drive and play as long as you keep them but you won't be able to record any more shows without the dish service.

How do i change my dishnetwork channel ?

its currently 116 and my dishnetwork controller doesnt work to go to 100+

only up to 99 i need help|||Swap it for direct tv,,|||Dour,

The TV is set to a channel to pick up the signal from the receiver. To view your satellite channels, the TV must be on the channel setup by the Technician. If using a coax cable on TV 1, it's normally 3/4; on TV 2, it's normally 60/73 but can be any channel. It looks like the Tech used 116 in your setup. I would go into your TV menu and scan your channels or manually put that channel in. You do not want to physically change your TV from that channel otherwise you will lose your signal. With your programming package, your channels numbers will go much higher than 116. I hope this helps.

Your choose depend on what you need. Like if you are like watching TV at home, in my opinion, cable TV will be better choose. But if you're like traveling, like going to the forest w/ your family to cooking s'mores, I recommend to you satellite dish. And most probably portable satellite dish or both as well.

I added link below to the article, so actually you can check more info at youtube and google/yahoo/bing as well =)

Thanks and do best choose for you, Alex|||DirecTV and Dish Network = terrible.

They may have great deals but if you look closely at the rules and regulations it may say that its only that small of a price for a few months, then it jumps up. Also, if you are getting pamphlets in the mail about "deals" from Dish Network it is probably not that trusting unless it comes from Dish Network itself. Ive had DirecTV once and the TV went out when it RAINED, SNOWED, CLOUDLY, or FOGGY. I then went to Dish Network and they have all these hidden fees and the reception is terrible 45% of the time.

I have had comcast triple play for a year now one bundle...phone...tv... internet all for about 115 dollars a month. Its such a great steal! The internet I hear is the fastest internet service in my area. The phone is awesome has many free features no other company offers, and the TV has went out two times which was to reset our box. Other then that it is great. Great Customer Service even though Ive only called twice. Great TV guide, great ON demand program!!|||Let's see. Anything but Comcast.

When we remodeled the house we also redid all the cabling in our walls. Despite this upgrade, we still got fuzzy channels from Comcast. Fox was unwatchable, for instance. Comcast said it was our equipment that was at fault. Yeah, right. Then Comcast suffered an equipment failure and our cable was out entirely. We called Comcast only to have them tell us it would be 2 days before they could send out a technician. We waited 2 days. The technician confirmed the problem was on Comcast's side, but couldn't fix it - that required a separate work order and that would require another 2 weeks of no cable. While this was being explained to me by Comcast, my wife was already calling up DirecTV to get some prices. I told this to the Comcast support tech whose response was "I don't blame you, but unfortunately I can't do anything for you." At least he was polite and honest.

We've had Dish ever since.

You know, I've heard all this garbage about Dish/DirecTV having bad pictures, or going out when it's cloudy out, or raining, or snowing but it's just not true. Clouds, rain, nor snow do not interfere with the satellite signal. Look, when it's cloudy/rainy/snowing does your FM radio lose signal? No, it doesn't. Satellite signals are even stronger than FM radio signals. Clouds, snow or rain aren't going to be a problem. In fact the ONLY time I've seen snow cause a problem with satellite was when I was at my brother's during a blizzard and snow physically piled up on the dish itself. The other people complaining probably didn't have their dish installed in a secure manner, and had it blown out of alignment due to wind. That won't happen if you have your dish installed by a professional, which is free, by the way, when you sign up with Dish or DirecTV.

What will be a problem? Anything that physically blocks line-of-sight from the dish to the sky, like trees or a building. However in those cases, the installer will tell you that you probably won't get an optimal signal in the first place.

Anyways, we have Dish. Their customer support is great. They really do try to do everything they can for you. And if you try asking for something more, they can often accommodate you in some way.

Dish's current HD-DVR has 2 tuners in it. This means you can watch up to 2 different channels (in different rooms if you want) or record up to 2 different shows at once. It stores about 50 hours of HD programming, or 300 hours of non-HD programming (or some combination of the two.) We currently have 2 separate HD-DVRs, their 200 channel package including local and all HD channels. We're paying about $60 a month, after discounts. Look online to see what their current deals are - just keep in mind they require a 2 year commitment. At the end of that 2 years, feel free to call in and renegotiate. At the very least you can sometimes swap your older DVR for a newer model (which we did last time) or get a small discount for remaining a customer.

The DVR itself isn't bad...but it definitely has its glitches. IMHO, Tivo is still the best DVR out there but they're a lot more expensive and don't work as well with satellite boxes.

Are the Dishnetwork answers on here, really from employees?

I have asked questions about Dishnetork and received answers from alleged employees of the company(Mary with Dish Network). I just found out the information I was given was not accurate. Namely, if anyone is interested in locals and ala carte channels, you can actually do that. The ala carte channels are very few but it is possible. Cost for locals only is approximately $10. Most dish answers are from customers.

When I answer a dish question, I try to be accurate and include the dish site but most people just want someone else to do the research for them and just want answers.

If everyone just did what yahoo wants you to, 1. ask the question before posting it, you would be amazed at the answers that are good answers that have been around over 2 years in this forum.

If they would ask before posting, we wouldn't see " what is the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r" everyday.

So if your doing anything dangerous, like wiring a house plug for 220v, I would have enough basic knowledge before attempting it or I would hire a pro. You never know how accurate your answers are because some people on here have a cpu and too much idle time.

How EXACTLY does the dual-tuner "Separator" made by DishNetwork work?

Be careful, now. It is NOT a TV splitter. It enables both tuners of a dual-tuner receiver to use only one cable from the Dish Pro Plus LNBF. Choose your answers carefully...I am a communications engineer.|||This is an interesting article.

There are many ways to multiplex two analog signals. They coul d use simple RF modulation with two different carrier frequencies.|||Well, the dish has to have at least 2 LNB's on the dish, both get combined at 2 difference frequencies and passed through 1 cable. Next it needs to be separated with some type of dishnet splitter. Then from there, 1 cable goes to Sat 1 IN, and the other to Sat 2 In.

Iam not sure what you are asking, but if your talking about how 1 dish set top box can operate 2 different tvs at the same time with different remotes then hopefully the answer above is correct.|||Interesting question.

Sounds like a simple band pass filter

separating UHF from VHF.

P.S. If this is wrong, I'll know Tuesday or Wednesday... 'cause I'll ask one of the engineers at echostar.|||If you're a communications engineer, then you already know the answer. It really is just a splitter. They tried to tell me that a splitter is a passive device, but their Separator is an active device. Unfortunately, it has no power plug, uses no batteries, and the signal from the LNB is incapable of powering it.

And besides, you're sending one signal to two tuners, just like a splitter does for two TV's.

If you are already subscribed to dishnetwork, will you be able to get the local channels for free?

We went with dish before it came with local channels, so now can we just call and get it free?|||no|||No, you call and add them on, and you pay $ 5.00 per month|||NO. If you live where you can not pick them up for free then the charge is $5.00 per month (or it was for me)

If I were you I would get rid of Dish Network before you run into worse issues.

I have just today dis-continued my service with Dish Network after years of service.

Their policies have changed so much since we first signed up it is un-real.

If your equipment has issues you can expect to pay $99.00 for a service call even when it is their satellite or receiver..... That was the last straw for me.

(how in the world can they get away with this is beyond me - I mean you have to have THEIR equipment and pay for the service - but if they send you crap to start with.... YOU have to pay??come on)

How do I program a dishnetwork remote control to work with my television?

The back of the User manual for your remote should contain a bunch of codes (numbers) with directions on how to program it. just look under the "TV CODES"|||Step by step instructions in the manual.

How can I connect my Magavox MWR10D6 DVR to DishNetwork?

I have tried a million different arrangements of cables.....I can get the DVD part to work, but the DVR will not record anything on tv. It does nothing when record is pushed, no light or anything. Could someone please walk me through the correct cord set up? Thanks :)|||1. Try using just coax cable. Out of DVR to the inlet coax of the tv. In Cable mode on the tv, channel 3 most likely, you should see the DVR channel. if not...

2. It won't be the first DVR to fail right out of the box.....get a new one....

Can I buy those other universal remotes for my DishNetwork reciever?

My DishNework remote is not working properly when I press the SAT and other buttons. Their remotes are expensive. so, can I buy regular universal remotes? They say it will work, will it? I have the skinny black standard reciever.|||If your DIsh Network receiver manual says the remote is an infared remote and if the universal remote says it works with Dish Network boxes then it will probably work. The reason why some people have problems with remotes and satellite boxes is because some older satellite boxes and maybe some new ones have radio frequency (RF) remotes that work through walls. And not many universal remotes have that feature.|||yes at bestbuy|||It will work but it might not have all the functions that one of their remotes will have. You might want to try dishdepot.com. they have pretty cheap dishnetwork remotes. Also, look for a RCA RCU900 universal remote, it works great. Just Google it.

What are the requirnments for working with dishnetwork?

I'm thinking about becoming a satellite installer for dish network or direc tv I've heard rumors about employees having to buy their own cables that go with the satellites is this true? Also how hard is it to install a satellite?|||If you work for dish Network or Directv directly then they provide all the tools and supplies but pay you less.

If you work as an independent installer, you buy all of your equipment and supplies but get paid more per install and it is your own business.

Join the SatHookup Network of independent installers, dealers and sales representatives : http://www.sathookup.com/jobs.php

We only work with established installers (have experience and their own equipment)|||Installing isn't all that hard, you just need good training. Dish Network has corporate techs and they are regular hourly employees. DirecTV generally only has subcontractors, so that would mean buying all your own supplies, tools, and such and pay for your own training. Dish Network can be a tough company to work for since their standards are almost impossibly high, so here's the way you get into the business. Get the job with Dish Network (at a corporate installation depot, not a subcontractor), get trained as a corporate tech, work there as long as you can and save up money to buy a work truck, tools, wire and stuff, and pay for about 2 months worth of gas. When you get fired from Dish Network (which will usually happen eventually, even if you're a manager), you will have the money and training you need to get started as a subcontractor. You should be able to find a local subcontracting company for Dish Network and they will welcome you as a former corporate tech with open arms. Then you can work for yourself and make the good money. You could also go subcontract for DirecTV. The equipment installs basically the same as Dish Networks, but DirecTV tends to pay less money per job. Hope this helps.
