Dishnetwork Receiver VIP211, without DVR option, can I still hook up a external hard drive.?

I was told that I could hook up an external hard drive on my dishnetwork vip211 receiver, with a one time activation fee and use it like a DVR. When I called dishnetwork, they told me it was only to expand the current internal drive. Was the dishnetwork representative correct or does my friend know something the representative doesn't?|||Hi The,





The Dish rep was correct. It is only to add additional drive space.





Norm|||This is incorrect. The vip 211 has no internal hd. This new feature is to turn your vip211 to a dvr by adding an external HD.
