Can i use a used dishnetwork reciever my friend gave me to hook up a 3rd room in my house?

I have DISHNETWORK service, its hooked up in two rooms of my house. I want to hook it up in a 3rd room/tv and i called to see how much it would be- they told me $5 more dollars a month (which is fine) but then they told me it would also be $99 to hook up a reciever to the 3rd tv. Now, my friend has a dishnetwork reciever that she no longer needs, is it possible to hook it up myself and then just call them and tell them to activate it for the $5 a month?

OR

Do they make it so someone actually has to come out and hook one up and charge you $99?

Id much rather use the free one from my friend, if possible.

Thanks!|||yes, its possible. make sure you read dish network's faq though. good luck!|||yea but its a 50 50 chance that u can and canot if friend owed money on there bill and dishnetwork can activated for u but your goin to have to pay there balance in order for it to be activated on your dishnetwork account.. plus u have to pay installation whish is $99. and pay $5 a month.........

|||As long as it has a smart card still in it, the $5 a month will cover that receiver and it will mirror your current package that you have with the dish network. We hooked ours up ourselves. And then they activated it for us.
