Really the only downside I have noticed from not having TV cable service are sporting events like the NFL. There are channels though on the Roku for MLB and the UFC. They do cost extra.
A lot of the movies are also able to be streamed in HD so the quality from the Roku is quite good unless you have a slow Internet connection. High speed Internet such as from Comcast will work great. If you have DSL make sure it is one of packages above the 1.5mpbs offering.|||Streaming media boxes are great. They are a good alternative to high-priced TV. Check out this site for more info on them: http://www.tvasap.com/Internet鈥?/a>

|||I recommend Netflix. You can watch (stream) it through your computer or xbox/ps3/wii, It's not super fast when it buffs up the movie but it's decently priced and have a different range of good to bad movies. You should try their one month free trial before you purchase it though. If you do buy it, it will be a low cost monthly bill.|||Roku is good yet you need to get the Top of the line one as it has the most features as well as the Firmware updates that allow for third party videos.
The Roku X/DS here is the comparison chart

Also there are a lot more channels as well with all the Rokus|||YES!
I just did this but I was using DirecTV. Even better than just ROKU is adding free TV program off the air with an antenna. This combination gives you live content - most of the major networks and local stations. I like going from $80 to $8 per month.|||Yeah go ahead.
